Are you paying attention?


We sometime take it for granted and have a very passive attitude towards it. It’s like we had no control over it— “some things call my attention, others don’t”.

Yet meditation shows you that you can control your attention. We have the power to place our attention on something—like your breath, a mantra, or the feeling of loving-kindness—and to allow that thing to grow. You also have the power to remove your attention from destructive thoughts and troublesome emotions, and let those things let go on their own.

Attention is the fuel of the mind. Every time you pay persistent attention to a thought, you are reinforcing it. You are allowing it to take root in you, to be a bigger part of you. And what you think of will determine how you feel, what you will do.


Your attention shapes your fate. Hence the need to claim back this power.
