Nervous to come back for practice?

Any physical activities and returning to mat after being away from regular classes can add pressure, nervousness and stress to ourselves.

Concern about soreness, stiffness, lack of flexibility and difficulty to keep up with the class can be overwhelming at the beginning but, don’t be discouraged and let this unpleasant emotion stresses you no more.

Going back to yoga practice is to acknowledge and recognise your enjoyable activity for yourself, mind and body. With your breath and awareness, you’ll be able to honor your body capabilities and flexibility without expectations and judgement.

Don’t let your fear define your return to yoga.

In fact, getting back to yoga is a reason for celebration.  Be happy and excited! You’ve stepped back into familiar space that can give you comfort and calmness.  Managing your first yoga practice back is a personal celebration in your mind and body.  Even the soreness you may feel the day after is a reminder of your body’s capabilities. Slowly find your limits without pushing and put ease into practice.

A return to yoga is a powerful practice all by itself.  Embrace it.  Stepping back on the mat can widen your awareness of several yogic practices, like “Ahimsa” or Non Harming from The Yoga Sutra, that teach us to be kind to ourselves, honor your body. Center yourself and be in the moment.  When your mind and heart is focused there will be lightness and as your first session back, there will be a smile.

See you on the mat
